A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
This is a science fiction novel about a woman named Mahit Dzmare, the new ambassador to an empire that threatens to annexe her colony. I enjoyed this; the characters and the world felt very unique and I was really invested in what was happening. I would definitely read more by this author.
Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
This is a fantasy novel about a half-vampire man named Gabriel de León, whose mission is to destroy all vampires. I really enjoyed this; I found the characters and the world absolutely fascinating. I would definitely read more by this author.
The Dawnhounds by Sascha Stronach
This is a fantasy novel about a woman named Jyn Yat-Hok who is murdered and comes back to life. I really enjoyed this; the characters and world were really interesting and I really got invested in the story. I would definitely read more by this author.

This is a novel about Mathilde, a Black woman who becomes obsessed with the life and work of a Black poet named Hermia Druitt. I found this interesting but it wasn’t really for me; I couldn’t really get invested in the characters. I might read more by this author.
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
This is a novel about a young man named Domingo and the vampire woman Atl who he befriends. I really liked this; it was an interesting twist on the vampire genre and the characters were relatable. I would definitely read more by this author.
No Country for Eight-Spot Butterflies by Julian Aguon
This is a collection of poems, speeches and articles about activism. I found this interesting; the author is from a country I know very little about, so I felt like I learned a lot. I would definitely read more by this author.
