What have I read this week? It’s late, sorry!
Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang
This is a novel about a woman named June who steals her dead friend’s unpublished manuscript and publishes it as her own. I found this really interesting, although it gets a bit meta towards the end and I’m not entirely sure what the “truth” is, although I think that’s part of the point. I would definitely read more by this author.
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
This is a fantasy novel about a young woman named Casiopea who rescues a god trapped in her grandfather’s house and goes on a quest with him to regain his power. I really enjoyed this; the characters and world-building were fascinating and it’s a part of the world I don’t know that much about. I would definitely read more by this author.

Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen
This is a nonfiction book about asexuality and what it could reveal about our society. I found it very interesting and thought-provoking. I would definitely read more by this author.

Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments: Intimate Histories of Riotous Black Girls, Troublesome Women, and Queer Radicals by Saidiya Hartman
This is a nonfiction book about Black women and girls living in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th century. It was very interesting; I learned a lot. I would read more by this author.
Monstress Volumes 5 and 6 by Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda
These are graphic novels about Maika Halfwolf, a young woman discovering the truth about her origins. I enjoyed these; the characters and the art are great. I would definitely read more by these authors.
The Black Phone and other stories by Joe Hill
This is a collection of short horror stories. I quite liked this; they were interesting and a little disturbing. I would probably read more by this author.

The Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones
This is a fantasy novel about a magical world ravaged by tour parties from another world. I really enjoyed this; it was a lot of fun and very imaginative. I would definitely read more by this author.

The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna
This is a fantasy novel about Deka, a young woman who discovers that everything she has been raised to believe was a lie. It is the final book in The Gilded Ones trilogy. I enjoyed this; I found it a satisfying end to the trilogy. I would definitely read more by this author.

These are graphic novels about Maika Halfwolf, a young woman trying to find out the truth about the entity living inside her. I really enjoyed these; I like the plot and the characters. I would definitely read more by this author.

This is a collection of short stories. I really enjoyed these, and I would definitely read more by this author.

This is a fantasy novel about a thief named Claire and Adèle, the police officer determined to catch her. I really enjoyed this; Claire and Adèle are great characters and the book was a fun read. I would definitely read more by this author.

This is a science fiction novel about a man from 1920s England named Guy Martin, who wakes up 200 years in the future. I found this interesting, but I didn’t really like it that much. I might read more by this author.

He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker-Chan
This is a fantasy novel about Zhu, a young man trying to claim the throne of the empire he lives in. It is the sequel to She Who Became the Sun and the conclusion to the Radiant Emperor duology. I really enjoyed this; the characters and the worldbuilding are fascinating. I would definitely read more by this author.
