What have I read this week? Sorry, completely forgot yesterday was Sunday!
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
This is a fantasy novel set in a country called the Palm, where half has been conquered by one wizard and half by another. It is the story of the people of the province of Tigana, the name of which has been obliterated by one of the wizards, and their attempt to reclaim their heritage. I found the story interesting, but found the book a bit too much of its time in terms of some of the attitudes expressed.
Mycroft Holmes by Kareem Abdul -Jabbar and Anna Waterhouse
This is a novel about Sherlock Holmes’ brother, Mycroft, set in 1870, where he uncovers a plot in Trinidad involving the deaths of several children. I quite enjoyed this, and I’ll probably read the next in the series.
